<div>My memory from Kwangyung Il-Ri is that the road into town was so rocky (but love the ice cream!) that the bus had to creep along, filled with animals, people, and baskets of cabbages, for almost an hour to get there.</div><div>Ken Gilbert and colleagues were still building the community bath house, so I rode into town just to take a bath. And, I confess, to enjoy a steak sandwich at restaurant in the hotel basement. (We privileged westerners thought we deserved a little break now and then from working with rocks.)<br></div><div>I think it's now more like a suburb with well-paved roads. Maybe even an upscale suburb. So I tried Google ... but wasn't sure about what I found. But it's quite possible that Kwangyung Il-Ri now has a 7-11. <br></div><div>Marshall<br></div><div><br></div>

<p style="margin-top:0;margin-bottom:0;">Rev. Kim Chong Man and his family, and our family started the village project on Jeju Island. The consultation was island wide but we then chose only one village to work in, Kwang Yung Il Ri. It was like a fifteenth century
village with rock and thatch roofed houses and often dirt floors. It was not easy living there, but we learned so much. Grateful for such experiences including hosting the World's Fair of the 24 Human Development Projects in Kwang Yung Il Ri. </p>

Kawangware to Rome to celebrate the initiation of the Trastevere project. He arrived. He declared that we were not doing another urban project and told us to start making another plan. That was on Saturday and we had an open house planned for Sunday with
more than 20 religious orders coming. He changed his tickets and left Sunday morning, even before his luggage lost in Khartoum had caught up with him.</span></p>

<p class="yiv1006119951x_MsoNormal">I remember Joe speaking to us, I think at the next Summer program but I’m not sure, that we made a mistake in our HDP selection process. He said first we tried to do a whole nation with the selection of Majuro in the Marshall Islands
and then we tried to do a whole island with Jeju Do. We finally got the size right after that, but it is part of our history in discovery of what is the right size for an HDP. </p>
