<div class="MsoNormal"><b>Obamacare<o:p></o:p></b></div>
<div class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">It was titled Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of
2010, but popularly referred to as Obamacare that includes some 400 <span style="mso-bidi-font-family:Georgia;color:#262626">health insurance and
healthcare industry</span> provisions on care that had to do with caring for
one’s well-being.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">That it was titled Obamacare gives the impression that the
“care” came first before the issue of affordability was considered. Indeed, the number of reforms provided zeroed
in on the area of care before the issue of affordability was relevant.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">Being the practical man of Manhattan, The Donald, of course,
looks at it first on its affordability, and decided early on that no one, either
the patients or the health industry, could afford the provisions. Sectors of Congress identified to a certain
type of conservatism they feel The Donald could promote, wants to scrape the
whole Act. That’s when congressional
members run into the “care” provisions and Ryan called the WH quickly for help.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">It is neither a fault of one side or the other, though The
Donald’s past rhetoric makes it appear like it is; the slogan in the WH has
suddenly become, “To Make America Sane Again”.
In fact, the question of factual and alternative views has gotten Jesus
idolatress Kenneyanne Conway, along with Chief of Staff Reince Priebus of Wisconsin,
and Press Secretary Sean Spicer, into not-too-cool waters. Advisers have become anxious on their first
day.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">Trump’s assist was a question to the women who protested his
administration in Washington and around the country where they were during the
election, and why they didn’t go out and vote.
A witty answer came back: they did; that’s where the almost 3 million
votes Hillary held ahead on the popular vote came from.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">Newt Gingrich, the ex-Georgia Congressman and Republican
Speaker of the House, adviser to the current WH resident, wanted Madonna
arrested for her outburst during the Washington Women’s March where she said: “I
have thought an awful lot about blowing up the White House.” An incendiary remark, if there was one, but
coming from the not-so-fragrant mouth lady, “blowing” could be construed as
something else.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">Newt and third wife, Callista, wrote of rediscovering God
and making a renewal since the whole of Washington and all throughout American
history is premised on the belief of a God in heaven that deigns tell a people
and create a nation in its image. Not
too bad a thought but since the earthrise of 1968, the truth is on the reverse,
anthropomorphic language we once used on the deity was meant more about the
promise of humanity on Earth than the adulation of a Santa in the Sky. Newt would not agree to that but so won’t
Conway, and though the Congressman is more intellectual about beliefs and
faith, Kelleyanne has already gone on record as attributing the election of The
Donald to her faith in Jesus! Go Iesu! Maybe I should run for office.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">Seriously, I took Obamacare as the courage to care by a
nation, but we are now checking which provision we can afford rather than deciding
which care is to be decisively dealt with. Affordability of insurance and services did
not make the business community or the practitioners of medical therapy unhappy
since they already dominated the money sector of the economy anyway.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">Obamacare was about the courage
to care, enumerating benefits for women, coverage of young adults, strengthening
Medicare, and holding Insurance companies accountable to the public; but care
is now reduced to counting pennies on the first day of the Trump’s watch. <span style="font-family:Courier;mso-bidi-font-family:Courier"><o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">Newt (not my type of a politician, in context, style, and
content) was, however, to the point: Trump will be kept in place if he can keep
America safe, and add US jobs to the market.
Trumps sense of keeping America safe is to keep Whitey in charge and
building a fence so those bloody Latinos won’t come and mess up the racial
make-up. Defending America is high on
the priority but keeping America isolated is not going to do the job.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">This leads to the second category - adding jobs to the
market. Forbes list of the richest folks
in America is led by Bill Gates of Microsoft, Jeff Bezos of Amazon, Warren
Buffett of Berkeshire Hathaway, Mark Zuckerberg of Facebook, Larry Ellison of
Oracle, Michael Bloomberg of Bloomberg LP, the brothers Charles and David Kock
of oil, Larry Page and Sergey Brin of Google, all directly relates to or
utilizes the digital world that is a global enterprise. American manufacturing workers are not
prepared to handle the keyboard. Most digital technicians in Saipan are
Japanese, Koreans, Pilipinos, and Chinese.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">Spicer was asked during his Press Conference what the
statistics on unemployment in America was, and he fudged. The “alternative view” on comparisons of
aerial photos to the attendance count during the Trump inauguration gained
Spicer a noisy audience. He did say
later that Trump “sees people that are hurting” and “it is not just number to
him,” the president is “not focused on statistics” but “if people are doing
better off.”<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">It is time to let Trump be Trump.<o:p></o:p></div>

If the Woman's March is any indication, this was not an act of despair, though media wants to paint it that way; it was an assertive declaration of selfhood. <br>

Dear Friends,<br>
<br>
There are many transitions that we are making these days as we all grow<br>
older, perhaps wiser? One such journey is being celebrated on Saturday,<br>
January 28th, 2017.<br>
<br>
Some of you may know the story of the discovery of the land that was to<br>
become the Residential Learning Center and later, Songaia community. One<br>
day in 1986, Carol came up the driveway of the property along with a<br>
toddler, Jason Coffman. In her report of visiting the land, she announced,<br>
"Jason and I have found the PLACE!"<br>
<br>
Her footprint is very firmly planted on our land. Her care of community,<br>
including the place and its folks has been enormous. Her many years of<br>
contributions and energy to both the community and to Rite of Passage<br>
Journeys are evident everywhere. She will be missed in so many ways. Her<br>
smile and warmth of welcome and the touches of her care are seen<br>
everywhere. She watched over us with a kind and loving heart.<br>
<br>
Carol's daughters have been encouraging her for several years to move<br>
closer to them. So now, 30 years later, she is moving closer to her most of<br>
her family located in Seattle and West Seattle.<br>
<br>
*Our community is honoring Carol with a "high tea" on Saturday, January<br>
28th at 4:00* (of course, isn't that tea time?) .<br>
<br>
Although words cannot always speak what is in our hearts, *we are inviting<br>
those of you who might be able to share stories of her years* at the RLC,<br>
The Woodinville Unitarian Universalist Church (where she and Stan were<br>
founding members), and Songaia to send them to us as a way to remind Carol<br>
that she is loved.<br>
<br>
If it is possible for you to join us on Saturday at 4pm, please *RSVP*.<br>
<br>
With love,<br>
<br>

Great to see all of these photos. Here's my favorite from Austin's march--see the young woman standing between "for" and "all" with raised fist. ("With Liberty and Justice for All" posted on the second floor of the Contemporary Austin Jones Center) on Saturday afternoon, January 21.<br>
<br>
<br>
Here's to a world with liberty and justice for all. --Diann McCabe, San Marcos, TX (where we took 70 in 2 buses to Austin).<br>

Our daughter Bonnie and I, along with 2 of my granddaughters, were part of the millions of souls sending a message that we won't back down, and intend to work for our inclusive society and social justice. The crowd was polite, progressive and multi-everything!!! Most uplifting for me was the youth of the speakers - Elizabeth Warren was probably the oldest. Or perhaps the Water Protector who had spent her summer at Standing Rock was of my generation. We have some very strong, articulate, energetic young women here in the Northeast sector of the US. I intend to use my wiley energies to help them organize into effective resistance to the threat of losing the rights that women have gained in the last 150 years.<br>
<br>
The organizing group just sent an email out to the more-than-100,000 on their local contacts list.<br>
Subject: The Next Steps. We will organize to assure that Saturday's march was NOT just a flash in the pan.<br>
<br>
