While working on Rodney’s biography I referred to it periodically as I thought through the different phases of his life…It does reflect a journey. And as I say in the introduction to Zero Meridian, Five Degrees North…he often referred to the fact that he had lived five lifetimes. Granted…with his death at 85 he didn’t get very far into the last phase, but he certainly had a lot of wisdom to share. And enjoyed sharing it.<div class="">Priscilla</div><div class=""><br class=""></div><div class=""><br class=""><div><blockquote type="cite" class=""><div class="">On Dec 19, 2016, at 9:55 AM, Jack Gilles via OE <<a href="mailto:oe@lists.wedgeblade.net" class="">oe@lists.wedgeblade.net</a>> wrote:</div><br class="Apple-interchange-newline"><div class=""><meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html charset=utf-8" class=""><div style="word-wrap: break-word; -webkit-nbsp-mode: space; -webkit-line-break: after-white-space;" class="">Dear All,<div class=""><br class=""></div><div class="">I think this work on the life journey charts are helpful, but only to a point. It is a trans-rational way to map the journey, but each of us has our particular journey and that is what is so important. Poor Jesus barely got started. Just imagine what he would have achieved had he gotten to be an elder with wisdom.<div class=""><br class=""></div><div class="">In our India leadership program we did a depth exercise in charting one’s life. Although most of the people we worked with were young, in their 30’s and 40’s, it was always a profound address. To name the parts of one’s journey is so revealing, and to decide what meaning (mission) would unfold in an “open” future was a deep struggle. But the transparency happened when we sat in a circle and shared our insights. </div><div class=""><br class=""></div><div class="">One of the parts of the charting process was to have people brainstorm people who had impacted their lives. They could be alive or dead, authors, actors painters, poets, etc., and they could be ordinary or famous. Didn’t matter. What I asked them to do is place them in the chart section for “people” and let that inform what that section of the journey was about. As people shared a transparency for all always occurred. Fate became destiny. Accident became gift. </div><div class=""><br class=""></div><div class="">At the end I would ask two questions; “Does anyone know the ticket collectors name who threw Gandhi off the train in South Africa? Wouldn’t you like to thank that SOB for being such a SOB?” and “Who is the SOB in your life you would like to thank today?” (I didn’t expect them to answer that aloud). Then I would make a concluding statement. “I have no idea what the future holds for each of you. But this I know, when our lives our complete and we stand before the honest assessment, it will not be about our achievements, awards or reputation. There is only one question that is before us. How many people wrote your name down on their life journey?” </div><div class=""><br class=""></div><div class="">G&P,</div><div class=""><br class=""></div><div class="">Jack</div><div class=""><br class=""></div><div class=""><div class=""><blockquote type="cite" class=""><div class="">On Dec 19, 2016, at 09:01, Jaime R Vergara via OE <<a href="mailto:oe@lists.wedgeblade.net" class="">oe@lists.wedgeblade.net</a>> wrote:</div><br class="Apple-interchange-newline"><div class=""><font size="4" face="Times New Roman, Times, serif" class="">Just revived this write-up and worksheet for class exercises.
