[Oe List ...] Sharing with Those Who Care

Linda and I began watching podcasts on climate change implications for our
future during the pandemic, beginning with the various "collapse" scenarios
(a la Michael Dowd) and then settling on the 360 and counting podcasts of
Nate Hagens and his theme of *The Great Simplification (TGS)*. Nate is a
former wall street manager of rich people's money, who left to pursue a Phd
Natural Resources and taught at the U. of Minnesota a course called Reality
101 focused on energy as the basis of basically everything, from economics
to geopolitics. His podcasts have grown to over 116,000 subscribers, and he
is know as a top systems thinker in the field of energy as the critical
underpinning of our way of life, and how our society is blind to its being
depleted.

Recently he has turned his attention and focus on "What do we do as we face
future breakdowns of supply chains, depletion of sources of energy, etc.
His work over the past five or so years on TGS has been an inspiration and
basis of our thinking as we try to come to grips with how we take a "bend
not break" local action stance with our* Accelerate Neighborhood Climate
Action (ANCA Redlands*) initiative in our own community, expressed in the
chart I am attaching *Building Blocks of a Climate Resilient Community, *which
we have been implementing in Redlands for the past four years.

Our three flagship programs, Resilient Living Series, Repair Cafes, and Map
Your Neighborhood, capped by a large city-wide annual Earth Day of Climate
Action, have gained support of our City, University of Redlands, and many
other community-based organizations. I am inserting the 50 minute podcast
we watched today, "What to do as the World Falls Apart," for any who may be
interested. We think it fits with the kind of "big picture" thinking and
model building the ICA was known for. We just wanted to share a little of
what we have been doing to keep from giving in to despair in the face of
what we are all exposed to as we wake up every day.
