[Oe List ...] Larry, Gene, Joy, Don, Songs

My email from OE comes into my Social inbox and I only check it
occasionally. Unfortunately what is most striking is the passion of people
I knew and loved.

Larry and Nadie were heavenly. Everything was right when they sang. I
especially remember, "Watch Ye, Therefore, Ye know not the day." My
hear soared when they sang.

I am actually quite surprised to hear that Larry died. I thought he was
immortal and maybe he is. He will certainly live in me for as long as I
live. I went to a silent retreat led by Peggy and Larry in Oklahoma. It was
the one time I saw him outside of OE. That was a good experience. I know
that Larry devoted himself to Thich Nhat Hanh and Buddhism. His
proclamation of the Gospel was what moved me. Glory be.

Gene was one of the Giants when I was in the Order from 1967-75. There were
a lot of giants at that time--women and men. In a sense we were all larger
than life. We had a great mission and did great things together over and
over again. They were true miracles.

I invited Gene to lead a weekend program in Chapel Hill, NC, one year. I
loved seeing Gene in person and in action again. I also saw Gene at Joe
Slicker's funeral--now there was another giant truly.

So interesting that Jim Wiegel found the Facebook post of Don's passing.
Don and Paula were in the New Orleans Religious House when Joy and I were
priors.

Thanks to all who remembered Joy. She had a very happy second marriage. She
married within a couple of years of our divorce. I remarried fifteen years
later to Sandi Stong Payne who was a widow. We just completed twenty-five
wonderful years of marriage.

Lynda Cock just sent an email about Joy and she included a link to
compilations of Order songs. Oh my, those songs. I went right to the 1972
songbook. The mystery was and is everywhere.
