[Oe List ...] Birthday Witness

I posted this on Facebook on my birthday a couple of weeks ago. It has been suggested that I share this with my OE/EI/Movement colleagues as well.  Gladly. Here it is....

"This 74-year-old man is contented. This man is me. And it is not just that retirement has turned out for me to be the best gig of all (with musical performances, learning new skills, social events, service work, travel with family and friends, and a lot of time to read and reflect), but in a world fraught with uncertainties both within and beyond my control, I'm learning to let go. (We all have to let go in the end). As for the other picture, I'm not just the photographer trying to get this gorgeous snap, or the ageing walker experiencing fatigue, or the trip co-planner hoping we got the day's walk right. I am all of these realities, but more. I am also that Cabbage White butterfly flitting high and carefree above lovely Staithes in North Yorkshire on a glorious summer afternoon. Don't forget to also be the butterfly. Flit on, my friends, flit on."
