Dear Ellie,
We used your song in our liturgy in the last Season of Creation! The month of September is set aside for Seasons of Creation in
the Australian liturgical Ecumenical calendar
And I remember singing your song!
World Environment Sunday is in early June, so we may well use your song again then!
Oh, give thanks for the global village!
Our Church, Pitt St Uniting Church, has just inducted a new Transgender woman Minister. It will be a wonderful journey with her.
As for the floods, they have abated, but the job of clearing up the mud etc., and finding homes for those who lost everything in
the torrents, is still a huge task before us all.
Many people still have not had their insurance claims recognised from the devastating bushfires of 2019/20. Some still live in
caravans.
I went to see the Movie Nomadland, and was deeply moved. My 11 years of living in the US has shaped me to be who I am,
and I still connect strongly with your way of life. Our daughter Rebecca was born and raised for the first year of her life in a ghetto
in Cleveland. A very enriching experience for us three. My life was changed forever.
Blessings without number on you all, my dear colleagues and friends.

We still have yet to put the same effort into addressing the environmental/climate change and racism/violence pandemics.

Some background. After Carleton, and I "retired" in 2011, we decided we wanted to focus our work on addressing the environment from the Universe Story perspective. In 2012 we decided to host a winter/spring environmental film series in Ferguson to start our effort, which included showing "Journey of the Universe". The last program in May was not a film but the "Awakening the Dreamer" Symposium. It was also part of the ICA 50th Anniversary Event. For that event, I wrote the song "Let the Earth Breathe". Out of that event came a core of people who were interested in pursuing environmental issues and eventually became the Ferguson Eco Team which is still active (and will be re-showing that film April 15).

Since then, it has been used in several services and other events. Over the years, as we have experienced the intersectionality of issues related to the environment, racism, pandemic, economic/social disparities, the song has taken on additional levels of meaning. In 2020 Chenoa and I started working on photos that could accompany it. We finished that in January, and Carleton and I used it for a zoom environmental session (1st of a four part environmental series) we did February 21 with Central Presbyterian Church in Denver, CO, coordinated and facilitated by Sherwood and Eunice Shankland. (Jim and OliveAnn Slotta were also present, commenting on their work related to the Accelerate Environmental Forums they are facilitating in the Denver area).
