Joe Pierce was also the one who told me if I didn't agree to join the Order - this was spring 1966 - Ken would not have a good option. The parish ministry was not working for us. Our girls were 4 and 2. We had lived on the South side of Chicago when first married and I had then been in perpetual fear for our lives. Now we should take them to the West Side? A very difficult decision. Bit we were there Summer 1966.

Along with the Philbrook patriarch, we sponsored a PLC and an RS1 in Phoenix in 1965-66. Ken had attended a PLC in Chicago in a downtown bank building. I don't know how many sessions it held on a weekly basis. Phil already had attended courses as well. JWM, Slicker and maybe David Scott taught the RS1. Joe Pierce came later to teach for the Phoenix Cadre. We held several courses mostly weeknights. Joe Pierce was my mentor for finding a teaching style that wasn't masculine confronting.

Ah, those were the days.

And Jesus as the “way, truth, and Life, seemed to be missing or not obviously connected for me. But I liked the All is Good, I am Received, Past is Approved, and the Future is Open. I felt the course completely left out the essence of the Holy Spirit part of the Trinity. And the word “care” did not hold within it the sacred or holy or deeper/ultimate meaning of the word “love” for me because it left out the unconditional part of it. It also seemed to leave out " the Way Life Is" always ultimately is of benefit to human beings, whether of course in the moment, situation, or experience one thinks or feels that it is experiencing something that is not to his or her benefit.
