Lin and Heidi and Jo, Karen, Jean and families,
John and I send our sympathy to you along with celebrating a life rich in service and song. David’s beautiful voice as part of the Barber Shop Quartet and caberets will long be remembered. We also give thanks for his leadership during the Local Church Experiment.
I recall the wonder of meeting several family members (I’m hoping I have their names correct) that he brought into the movement events and seeing the family Homeplace in the Nature Conservancy magazine.
David’s dedication to being part of the climate change movement in a dramatic way…a cross country march, no less…was a momentous decision for a senior citizen. What a demonstration of passionate care as long as one has breath!
Well done, thy good and faithful servant! Rest in peace,
Lynda andJohn Cock.

David came through Phoenix on that cross-country bike ride as well. What a handsome man! And caring--my oh my!

The unknown is what is. And to be frightened of it is what sends everybody scurrying around chasing dreams, illusions, wars, peace, love, hate, all that. Unknown is what is. Accept that it's unknown, and it's plain sailing. John Lennon

I first met David in 1970, lived and worked with him in Nairobi during the 80s, and most recently was inspired by his participation in a coast-to-coast march to highlight the urgency of climate change in 2015. When the marchers arrived in Chicago in September, their route went through the heart of Fifth City on Jackson Boulevard as they proceeded to the GreenRise Building in Uptown where the 50 or so marchers had dinner and spent the night. As David rode his bike past the Iron Man statue on Jackson, a group of Fifth Citizens and ICA "veterans" stopped with him to take a photo (see attached). David, of course, is the man at the left with a white beard. It's one of my favorite memories with David.
