The Bible Jesus 
vs. 
The North American Evangelical Jesus

Having studied the Jesus of the Bible for decades, and having also observed the actions and rhetoric of North American Evangelicals (NAE) who claim to be followers of Jesus, one can come to a very interesting conclusion. 
It would appear, from all available evidence, that there are actually two Jesuses.  Each with very different, and sometimes completely opposite, attributes than the other. 

I'd like to highlight a few of those differences for you so you can see for yourself what I'm talking about...
(There are so many differences, but I'll stick to a short list.)

~ The Bible Jesus is kind and listens to people attentively and responds to them in a loving, caring way. He uses uplifting words to make a point with His life giving truths that the hearer can readily receive with a glad and grateful heart.

The NAE Jesus is rude and arrogant. He interrupts and cuts people off as they speak. He seeks to "destroy" them through heated public debates. He uses inflammatory rhetoric to draw attention to and condemn where they don't agree. 

~ The Bible Jesus is welcoming and accepting of all people. His love is boundless and His mercy sees past any failures in a person so as to put them at ease in His presence and make them hungry to know more about Him. He'll even invite Himself to the home of, and sit down to dinner with, the vilest of sinners. 

The NAE Jesus seems to favor exclusivism. Is particular about who gets close to Him. His acceptance is based on achievements and pedigrees. People's faults and failures are always a favorite topic of public discussion. Public humiliation and shaming of an offender is commonly practiced. 

~ The Bible Jesus is always forgiving. Never condemning. If a person is a sinner, His response to them is to protect them at all costs and always offers a way out of a destructive situation...even if it means Him taking their place to the point of death to effect a rescue. 

The NAE Jesus holds grudges. He condemns people for the slightest offenses. He responds in anger to them. Is quick to point out that the fault is theirs  and so they alone must  bear the consequences. He abandons them when they need his help the most. 

~ The Bible Jesus possesses all power in Heaven and in Earth! He heals the sick. He casts out demons. He even raises the dead. 

The NAE Jesus has never healed anyone. Is afraid of demons...although may actually consort with them on occasion. He has certainly never raised the dead. The NAE Jesus obviously has no divine power at his disposal. 

~ The Bible Jesus is a life giver! In fact, He freely gives abundant life to all who will ask it of Him. He has never killed anybody! He has never one time advocated the killing of anyone. He doesn't seek revenge, vengeance, nor the harming of any person.

The NAE Jesus is a cold blooded, vengeful mass murderer. His weapons of choice are so cowardly that he disguises them in natural occurrences found in nature. He destroys entire cities with hurricanes. Devastates homes and lands with wildfires. Shakes nations with earthquakes. Wipes out communities with horrific floods. Decimates towns with tornadoes. Massacres entire people groups with plague and disease. And in their wake, leaves a trail of dead and wounded from new born babes to the elderly. No life is worth sparing if the followers of the NAE Jesus have become offended by some sinful act or even a piece of local, state or national legislation enacted into law. Disagreeing with North American Evangelicals is a dangerous endeavor. 

~ The Bible Jesus is loving, patient and kind...and His anger is not easily riled up. 

The NAE Jesus is one emotionally volatile dude. He has a short fuse and a hot temper!

~ The Bible Jesus never really involves Himself much with politics. It's the people that He's interested in. He just loves people! He wants to help people. It doesn't matter to Him if they're a Democrat or a Republican. Shoot...the Bible Jesus even loves socialists and communists. (Gasp!) He's only interested in the person and the faith in that person's heart. When Bible Jesus returns to earth again, the only thing that He's going to be looking for is "faith"....not party affiliation. 

The NAE Jesus...according to his followers...is a card carrying Republican.
