Education activist
Galvin won a Democratic primary, but will be running as an independent. She leads a group focused on public education, and fought against Education Secretary Betsy DeVos's confirmation. Her opponent, Rep. Don Young (R), was first elected to Congress in 1973. Galvin is a first-time candidate. She faces a male opponent in the general election.
