Thank you, Ellie, for your marvelous writing, EYES, ONLY HOURS OLD, which confirms my experience of a retired OB/GYN nurse.  There is truly something magical in the experience of being with mother and child after a baby is born, especially as they “learn” to breastfeed!  The Mystery reveals itself in full at this time!

life's disease and death's marrow--

 

healing births' paradox and

 

revealing its wholeness

 

to a pondering heart

 

as a rooting mouth,

 

also hours old,

 

hungered beyond the miracle

 

of a mothering breast.
