Wonderful news. Jeanette, it gives me such a sense of community knowing that you and others surround her on our behalf. Thank you for that. And please pass on our blessings and good wishes for continued improvement.

Subject: [Oe List ...] Update on Heidi Holmes

This update comes from Heidi and her family. They asked me to post it on this list serve.

Update on Heidi

Since we wrote many things have changed with Heidi - generally for the better. So we felt it would be helpful to update you on the current situation.

Heidi has recovered much of her cognitive skills. She is quite alert and if it were warmer, I think she would be out walking and going to events. About a month ago she decided to stop taking the estrogen blocker as she felt there were too many side effects from it. Since that time she has been more engaged. She is staying up later in the evening and sleeping better at night. She has more energy and is more engaged in visiting with people. The art therapist has been working with her to develop a new painting style by he;ping her move with more of her body. She is responding well to the challenge. Her right ear is blocked and has less hearing. She is still being visited by her group of friends on a regular basis. These visits provide great stimulation that keep her engaged and thinking new thoughts. She has picked up some reading again. She is even reading and responding to emails.

Heidi has a good palliative team around her and appreciates the doctor and nurse who visit regularly. She has cut back on the Support Worker visits as she is able to do more on her own. She has become more proactive in setting her own daily activities.

Rachel has moved in with her. Given the expanded cognitive skills, she and Heidi have been having conversations on how they live together and how Rachel can best support Heidi in her ongoing journey. Rachel watches for changes be they positive or negative, short or long term. We are operating from the understanding that the prognosis has not changed and with great gratitude for these new developments.

Thank you for the cards and notes you have sent. They have been much appreciated.

Grace and Peace,

Jeanette
