[Oe List ...] Salmon: A sound message

George--
What a surfeit of get well thoughts that are shared from those who've joined you on, "The Journey to the East." Those who have a way with words are truly prayers that speak from the innards of us all.
Your real healing may have started years ago when you and your best-friend-clarinet sat in the backyard of Kwang Yung il and you tooted a tune. The healing lay in the practice.
If you can put on your spirit/ears you'll also receive a deep blessing from a short--but true--story. During our year assignment to Seoul, we had a young musician staying with us who was auditioning with the Seoul Symphony. His instrument was the oboe.
Each morning around 4 a.m., he started warming himself and his instrument using the next hour to play nothing but scales. Then, for the next 30 minutes he played his audition piece.
The mournful, plaintive sound of the oboe awakened us all and left us floating in the sonority of that beautiful duo of soul and sound.
I have a deep suspicion that this is a metaphor of your life and ministry.
You and Wanda make beautiful music that continues to serve us well.
You've led me to the deeps and rubbed my nose in service for which I am doubly glad.
    Inner Peace,
    Bill and Beverly

    Dearest Wanda and George,

It bites me in the butt when I take a vacation from my e-mail, which I did, intentionally for a few days, and so missed your important news. Mea Culpa.

Joe and I celebrate you, and your always “can do, and we will!” stance, living out of radical possibility. And we also celebrate your gifted health care givers, from your precious Sarai, the 21st century Florence Nightingale, to the specialists who conducted the surgery.

From here on the Maine coast we are howling to the moon and bowing to the ocean (and praying to the Mystery that sustains both moon, ocean and all of us) for the continued health and strength of the amazing Holcombe family, whom we have loved for so many decades.

    Grace, peace and love,

    Marilyn and Joe

The Holcombe Family invites you to celebrate George’s becoming part of the 1% .......whose Pancreatic Cancer was found early at stage 2 by our Asian Primary Care Doctor Sheila Shung who found it by requesting a CTC scan one day, an MRI the next day, and setting up an appointment the next day with surgeon, Dr Declan Fleming of Texas Oncology who performed the Laparoscopic Surgery to remove 1/2 of his Pancreas where the cancerous Tumor was located along with his Spleen, a few Lymph Nodes and blood vessels at the new Dell Seaton UT Medical Center Hospital in downtown Austin (new Medical School that opened in May) on Friday, September 8th, He received exceptional care from all the Hospital staff (and medical students too). Plus our day to day care from our wonderful daughter Sarai (our very own family Nurse). George is home now, and on a recovery plan for the next 2 to 3 months. ....encouraged by the good news the day he left the hospital this week that the biopsies taken confirmed the cancer had not spread to other parts of his body. The next steps will be to watch closely for signs of it returning, but no Chemo or radiation recommended. We were also able to be home in time to celebrate the life of our son Chris who died from stage 4 Prostate Cancer two years ago on September 13, 2015.
Chris’ Memorial swing and tree with first year fall colors and growing tall and green by spring of year two.
Chris’ Art piece - Memory Box “All is Good” by artist Glenda Adkinson, EI/ICA Austin colleague. Art piece “Let’s Celebrate” by artist May Lin, from Singapore.
