The old Quaker hymn “How Can I Keep from Singing” comes to mind in celebration of George’s being in the !% of those who discovered this cancer early, and with all his amazing series of miracles that followed this discovery, and medical opportunities that were immediately available, including a family nurse!. We know that this has been an awesome (in the full extent of that word) time for your family as you anticipated the anniversary day of Chris’ death. Thank you for sharing the tree and the swing and the art work with us. Powerful memorials! With care and celebration, Lynda and John

The Holcombe Family invites you to celebrate George’s becoming part of the 1% .......whose Pancreatic Cancer was found early at stage 2 by our Asian Primary Care Doctor Sheila Shung who found it by requesting a CTC scan one day, an MRI the next day, and setting up an appointment the next day with surgeon, Dr Declan Fleming of Texas Oncology who performed the Laparoscopic Surgery to remove 1/2 of his Pancreas where the cancerous Tumor was located along with his Spleen, a few Lymph Nodes and blood vessels at the new Dell Seaton UT Medical Center Hospital in downtown Austin (new Medical School that opened in May) on Friday, September 8th, He received exceptional care from all the Hospital staff (and medical students too). Plus our day to day care from our wonderful daughter Sarai (our very own family Nurse). George is home now, and on a recovery plan for the next 2 to 3 months. ....encouraged by the good news the day he left the hospital this week that the biopsies taken confirmed the cancer had not spread to other parts of his body. The next steps will be to watch closely for signs of it returning, but no Chemo or radiation recommended. We were also able to be home in time to celebrate the life of our son Chris who died from stage 4 Prostate Cancer two years ago on September 13, 2015.

Chris’ Memorial swing and tree with first year fall colors and growing tall and green by spring of year two.

Chris’ Art piece - Memory Box “All is Good” by artist Glenda Adkinson, EI/ICA Austin colleague. Art piece “Let’s Celebrate” by artist May Lin, from Singapore.
