Dear Evelyn, I remember your mother at summer programs in Chicago. She was delightful, went with the flow, however choppy it appeared at the time! and was very participatory. I was so impressed with a mom who actually liked us all! Thank you for her. We are poorer without her. Take care of yourself and your family at this time. Clare Whitney

Dear Evelyn, I've not met your mother but I have heard you speak of her. How old was she when she died? The departure of our parents is a significant moment in our lives. My thoughts are with you. I wish you courage and comfort.

Dear Colleagues in Faith and Mission,

Martha Haruko Hirose Kurihara, better known as Martie, ended her journey on earth peacefully at 2:15 A.M.September 6, 2017 at Hines Hospice, Fresno, CA after being admitted on Tuesday. She was an ICA and EI supporter and was part of the Fresno Cadre under the San Francisco Region. She had all the books we read, the Red Book, the Other World Charts, and recruited and enabled many RSI in the San Joaquin Valley and in California. She traveled to Chicago for summer programs and supported and participated in the movement as best she could while raising four children, of whom one is Evelyn Kurihara Philbrook still in the ICA.

Public viewing will be this Sunday, Sept. 10th at 4:00-7:00 at Wallin Funeral Home, Sanger.

The First United Methodist Church, Sanger is sharing a pastor, Rev. Neal Harris with Reedley. I do not know him and have not met yet. We are looking for minister who knew about EI in the Fresno Area. If you know anyone, please let me know. We are hoping to hold a service on Monday afternoon, Sept. 11th.

  Grace and Peace,

  Evelyn USA cell: 559-240-5666
