[Oe List ...] Kristen Knutson Re: OE Digest, Vol 63, Issue 12

I am remembering 1970-71 at the Cleveland Religious House on Wheelock Road next to Liberty Blvd. (now MLK Blvd.) 
Don and Claudia Cramer, Martha and Dick Talbott, Herman and Joy Greene, Sean Burke, Sherwood and Jan Shankland (now Unger), Joe and Sandra Cliff, Joan and Bob (now Frank) Knutson, and a Cleveland Heights couple... Our daughter Shonna Shankland (now Campbell) and Kristen were 'stars' of the Emerging Generation gang...while we adults were focused on RS-I recruitment and getting the Local Church Experiment Cluster up and running. EG weekend assignments, though never easy was a welcomed form of discountinuity in our break-neck pace to make "The Local Church, The Body of Christ, The Hope of the World". We raised each other's kids with shared care inside the EG structure for better and for worse; exciting and demanding...amazing journeys for our children and their parents. Never the traditional mode of raising kids in the suburbs. 

Nor is it a traditional mode for parents to bury any of their own kids, but it happens... so as we remember Kristen and her journey our hearts and prayers are with Joan and Frank and Kyle and the whole fam-damnily :-). Breath deeply as you celebrate her unique and unrepeatable life...and when you are ready to look forward... recieve God's refreshing Grace and boundless Peace on the road ahead

My heart goes out to Joan, Frank, Kyle and Robert for the sudden passing of Kristen. 
I am stunned and reminded of the unpredictability of life, how precious each moment. It is not to be taken for granted. 
Thanks for sharing your beautiful process for letting her go. I know from Joan's and Frank's stories yesrs ago, that Kristen was deeply loved. 
May you each be held in the deep love of the Mystery, 
Sending Love and Prayers for each of you on this journey.

I just returned from Monterey, CA where Kristen lived. On Sunday Kyle, her brother; Frank, her father. Robert Moselle, her?significant?other and I went to the hospital where a group of doctors were there to meet us. We had a private room together and the doctors spoke in understandable terms so we could clearly understand the process she was in and we got the information to make the decisions we needed to make. It all started last Wednesday when she had had her big toe amputated, had flu-like symptoms with a high temperature. They found her on the floor in the hospital and thought it was a heart att a ck as her heart stopped but she had had a massive stroke to the brain and the only option for her future was 24/7 care in an institution. So on Tuesday we gathered around her and had the machines turned off and let our precious girl go. I brushed her hair. She was wearing a piece of jewlery I had made her. She was holding a drawing that Roxanne, the niece that she adored, had made for her. Kyle downl o aded her favorite music that we played, We gave her a beautiful pink rose and white lily. We sat around the bed telling "Kristen" stories. She was ready to go so it didn't take her long. Off she went on a whole new journey . Thanks for all your prayers and notes of support, The hospital was the most beautiful places I have ever been and we strongly felt the support of the staff there at all times.
