Karen, Thank you so much for sharing some of the significant parts of the life of Verdell. Thank you and others for representing many of us who could not be there.  Those of us who knew him on the Westside can attest to his affectionate title of Mayor of the Westside.  His southern upbringing was very apparent in his gentle way of working with people and helping them see the necessity of working together to make things happen.  We recall the pride and hope that he saw for Fifth City with the Car Wash and Auto Shop.  Plus having Mayor Harold Washington there to help inaugurate the  opening of that new construction!

It was great to see him and several other Fifth Citizens at the JWM Legacy event in WDC several years ago, still telling the story of Fifth City.  From the obituary, it looks as if he carried that RS-I wisdom about no-retirement to heart with all his work continued through the community.  We celebrate a life shared with so many of us and with local people around the world through his demonstration of care for building the future.

Jim Troxel and Terry and Pam Bergdall drove to Verdell Trice's funeral together Friday. They saw 5th citizens: Lily Fox, Floyd Stanley and his wife, Mary, and Lester Jackson.  Other ICA colleagues attending were Rev. J. Martin Lee (Jeong Min), AM Noel, and Patrick Moriarty.
