Zoe,

Yes, I remember that. It was an audio tape. I’ll search for it, but if anyone else still has the copy please let Zoe and others know. It certainly was JWM at his best!

We spent so many years together, locked in an embrace of servanthood for the emergence of a world that was unknown to most, but seen as the call to give our lives to that which would enable a new humanness to take form. Now we are scattered, a lot older and less mobile. Like Don Quixote you call for us to rise again and take up the challenge. The fire is not banked, but the role we need to play with our last years is not so clear. We need to hear that and respond from where we are.

No illusions, no asking for a miracle on the election of Trump, no placing of hope in technological solutions and no regrets for the passing of that which can no longer sustain the social process. I like the way Larry Ward expressed it to us at a Retreat he led here in Mexico almost a year ago. "The forces of the new have already won." We will not live long enough to see it, but the world is embracing change that is ripping through the status quo and those who defend it are fighting to hold on to that which is already dead.

> That said, we owe it to think clearly and creatively about how to enable a new humanness to take form and be empowered. There will be intense damage and suffering in this struggle. Whatever happens, our eyes must see a thousand years.

> The Social Process has shifted. The once collapsed Cultural pole is actually on the move. It certainly isn’t coherent nor in charge, but filled with a vitality that is feeding an amazing creativity. The Political process is where the pain lies, for me, these days. Order rules (defensively), Justice and Welfare are anemic. The Nation State is dying and the new form of collective responsibility hasn’t taken root. Because we are now, and forever more, Global, our SP must be as well.

> The Economic process is whistling in the dark. They know that what is happening regarding the dependance on a healthy biosphere is real and is now, and soon will be, dominating all decisions. They aren’t stupid, just greedy. The world is demanding a new Distribution, and response. I take great hope in the sign that Standing Rock is regarding indigenous wisdom. I know there doesn’t seem to be anything concrete to point to in our HDP work there, but damn, it sure is interesting that it has become a place of Hope!

> In terms of the New Human Consciousness (what we called the NRM), there is some very exciting work being done to which we can add our wisdom. Speaking personally, the contradiction is the refusal of the scientific community to grasp the meaning of the Other World. They are scared to death of anti-science and fundamentalism as the only option they have encountered. There is deep work to be done here, and we have a lot of wisdom to share.
>
> Finally there is that body of people (we called the P.O.G) who enable, with their lives, to bring forth the new. That is where I am looking. Who are these people today, where do you look and finally, how might we serve them and help sustain them? Surely they will burn out or be killed if they attempt to attack the dark forces directly. We have much to share with them. Besides the definitives of our NRM work, they need to grasp Imaginal Ed, Methods (all kinds, but especially social analysis, model building, indirection, symbol, and motivity) and the depths of corporateness.

Really insightful about the structure of society these days, especially in reference to opportunities and limitations. Used to be, I thought of the upper, middle and poor classes, but this casts a new light on it. And provides some helpful categories and framework for grasping what’s going on these days.
