Thankyou for this reflection, Jon, and your update Ellie
Here the Indigenous community is working to protect the Galilee Basin. Adani,an Indian company is about to destroy the beautiful Galilee Basin by mining for coal there.
It has the backing of our Federal Government .. although the major Banks have declined to support it.. The most important project going on right now re: caring for planet earth - tho we also have coal mines owned by Japan and Sth Korea creating huge health hazards for farmers and their families on the land on which coal mine stands...
In love and peace,
Isobel

We had a chance to connect with Salvatore Caruso and Dianne McCabe who were there at the same time, supporting families in the Sicangu (Rosebud) Camp. We also had a chance to meet with Sheila Johnson who was working in the Medic Camp.

They might not make a decision until January. DAPL sued to continue drilling. The judge said he might not decide until January. There have been a couple additional clashes between the prayerful Water Protectors and the militarized police, DAPL Security, and National Guard.--water cannons spraying the Protectors in sub-freezing temperatures, forces using rubber bullets, concussion grenades, ear-piercing L Rads, mace and pepper spray. Over one hundred were injured. One college young lady might lose her arm. President Obama has been silent.
