*THU AUG 28* *Erie to Lyndon, IL*

It was a late morning because of the 9-mile March. It was 9am before anyone
started to consider hitting the road. I got up early so I helped myself to
some granola and yogurt. I got my sleeping gear loaded on the Gear truck
and put the kitchen stoves away then got on my bike and headed for Lyndon.
The route was NE and there was a NE wind that made pedaling a little more
work. It has seemed that coming north is a gradual uphill ride, although
there are far less hills than there were in Iowa. The campsite was behind
the Lyndon City Hall. I went to the local filling station and got my daily
cup of hot cocoa, to which I’m addicted! While drinking my cocoa I struck
up a conversation with a customer, Tom, that was eating his lunch. I
described the Climate March and indicated that we hoped to change the way
we’re using up our environment. He finally asked if we had something he
could sign and I invited him to come by the campsite. He came by later,
continued his conversation/questions, and signed 3 of the letters Mary had
written to President Obama.

The City Hall had WiFi and a small pavilion so I set up and did some
journaling. By 11:30am it began to rain. It rained off and on all afternoon
so some of the Marchers got rained on and the pavilion was crowded. The
City Hall had a sidewalk with 4-foot cement porch with a roof over it
around two sides of the building. Since the pavilion was so small I checked
out tent sites. The one with the most protection from the rain had poison
ivy. Izzy and I parked our bikes on the side of City Hall that had the
trash can and put our bedrolls on the side that had the entrance. There was
a Chicago phone conference but the pavilion was so crowded that I didn’t
attend. It was hard to eat dinner in the rain so no group activity at
dinner or afterward. I began the design of the Online Course that I hope to
experiment with during the rest of the March. It will be a challenge for me
to learn Online course presentation and maintenance. I would hope to
attract Virtual Marchers. I’ve entitled the course *Reversing Climate
Change: One Step At a Time.*
