Dear Ellie, <br><br>Thanks for the report of the 50th celebration. I have participated in Awakening the Dreamer a couple of times. The first time was an 8 hour version - it was the first in the Seattle area several years ago when Fred was still on his feet.<br>
<br>Thanks you also for your new song. I will try it on the piano in the next couple of days. Today is my day with a 3 year old neighbor, Ayden whose mother is cooking our dinner in the common house. Then at 5:30 (to give his mom a break), a 7 year old neighbor, Alex will join us until dinnertime at 6:15, also in the common house. Oh, I have a meeting at 2 pm. You really do not need to know all of this information - I was just thinking it might sound strange to know that I will not be trying your song for a couple of days.<br>
<br>This summer our sacred sister circle will be gathering for our 20 year celebration. We have met consistently for all of the 20 years. This year as we are finding new patterns for our time together, we are having a woman facilitate a session or two on aging/eldering, .... this will follow our Wall of Wonder facilitated by Molly Shaw. Although we have been singing together for some time, (it seemed to take a few years at first for some of us to let go of our Order patterns) last year Leah and I created a song book. Relative to common features for these anniversary events, we did introduce the ICA and the 50th anniversary, created the art form strips, and feel that the symposium, from an ecological perspective, lays out the challenges of our times and some creative responses to them. As the report says, a smaller follow-up group will meet in two weeks to follow-up on how to enable the Ferguson community to make the transition from dependency on fossil fuels to renewable energy sources. This is an excellent symposium construct for raising consciousness about what we are doing to the earth and what we and others can do about it. Glad it could be included in the 50!</font></font></font></div>

events marking the 50<sup>th</sup> anniversary of the Institute of Cultural
Affairs took place on Saturday, May 19, 2012 in Ferguson, MO, a first-ring
suburb of the City of St. Louis.<span> </span>It was
an “Awakening the Dreamer, Changing the Dream” symposium, an experience of
inspiring exploration into the links between the three facets of a “new dream”
for humanity and planet earth: environmental sustainability, social justice,
and spiritual fulfillment.<span> </span>The idea of
the symposium grew out of the Pachamama Alliance formed ten years ago among
indigenous peoples in Ecuador, Latin America and their concerns about what the
industrial nations were doing to their land and their way of life.<span> </span>It combines leading edge information, live
presentation, excellent video clips, and group interaction.<span> </span>The Ferguson symposium was held from 8:15 to
12:15 p.m. in the parish hall of the St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church and was
hosted by Carleton and Ellie Stock, long-time members of the ICA, living in the
community the last 14 years.</font></span></div>
