Robin Wall Kimmerer's words have inspired many of us for years. Her tender, poetic descriptions of the natural world and the ways that traditional Indigenous ecological knowledge can be woven together with western scientific knowledge have created new pathways.

Robin's latest book: The Serviceberry: Abundance and Reciprocity in the Natural World shares lessons from the serviceberry which freely distributes its wealth to benefit all, in sharp contrast to an economy rooted in scarcity, competition and greed. She offers a bold and inspiring vision to orient our lives around gratitude, reciprocity and community, values needed even more deeply now than when she wrote them.

Dr. Kimmerer is a SUNY Distinguished Teaching Professor of Environmental Biology, and the founder and director of the Center for Native Peoples and the Environment at the SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry here in Syracuse. Her New York Times bestseller Braiding Sweetgrass has long been one of our bestselling books as well.

The Serviceberry is available in hardcover (5x7”, 128 pp., 2024) for ages teen and up. Robin is donating her advance payments from this book as a reciprocal gift, back to the land, for land protection, restoration, and justice.
