A reflection 
Yes, you are correct that what we do every day and at every moment is critical to the changes that are required in our relationship to the human race and planet earth. 
I think Marshall is highlighting the fact that JWM was ahead of his times theologically. He was not embraced by the Church at that time. If anyone is studying the changes called for by the Church JWM's thinking and action need to be studied
