Yes. For a year I was his student assistant and even translated some German papers for him. He was brilliant, demanding, and despite that he was kind.Occasionally he and another professor would have arguments in public, and they were legendary. His classes demanded that someone write up the proceedings of the previous class and present them next week. I still have some.He will be missed
